Music Artist of the Week: SINCERE

For those of you that have been following the Joey Voodoo movement, lifestyle, culture…you understand our love of musicians and artists that are true to their roots and are not swayed by society. Individuals that are not afraid to voice their opinions and want to be heard. SINCERE is exactly what Joey Voodoo is about and thus this is why the Homie is our “Music Artist of the Week!”

Joey: What’s good homie?! You recently released your highly anticipated new album “The Calm Before the Storm.” Tell us more about the inspiration behind the album?

SINCERE: Basically this album is the summary of the last few years of my life. I wrote most of the album in 09-2010 and had jus lost a close friend of mine in 08 (RIP Almighty Aziz). At that point I wanted to write and kinda reflect on everything I had been going through and do a album that was a little more mature so people could really relate and learn from my experiences. This album and my music in general is inspired by my life things that i see and live. Being a father, family ,homies and of course the streets of Watsonville California. The album releases September 30th. It will be up for free download at www.therealsincere.com but you will also be able to purchase the hard copy as well.

Joey: You new video “Each One, Teach One”…a personal reflection??

SINCERE: “Each One,Teach One” it’s definitely a personal reflection jus kinda explains alot about myself growing up an things I went through. Jus wanted to teach youngsters and showem some shit they could relate to. A lot of the places I shot the video at are well known places where I’m from The junior high scene was at my old junior high so it was coo to chop it up with the kids an lettem know I came from the same places n positions they did.

Joey: When your writing lyrics is there a certain message you are trying to incorporate?

SINCERE: I usually always incorporate some kinda message. Depending on how the beat makes me feel I usually decide what the song will be about. Whether it’s gangster shit or not, the message is always my raw truth about relationships, politics, certain life experiences I have been through or whatever might be on my mind at the time.

Joey: What three words best describe you? [Read more...]
