Better Left Unsaid – Drawn and Quartered.mp3

Aggressive, bold, and wicked describe the band Better Left Unsaid. These are strong words for a band that started out in the small town of Modesto, CA in 2003. Better Left Unsaid’s years of hard work and DIY attitude has taken them across the United States multiple times and brought them on stage with some of the best in the business. Better Left Unsaid continues to raise the bar. In August 2010 they released their sophomore album, “Only the Dead to Witness” which includes a new video for the single, “To the Last Man” and a featured track on the Rockstar Mayhem and Ozzfest Sampler. The bands previous release “The Fight Within”, on Stillborn Records, also had a video premier for the song “Testify” on Headbangers Ball. In the spring of 2011, Better Left Unsaid will embark on one of their longest tours where they will acquaint fans across the United States with their music that combines metal, thrash, and hardcore with more brutality and agility than ever.

Sangre – The Great Tribulation.mp3

Every time I post on a band that will be playing the Oceans of Blood Metalfest I’m excited that they are part of the event and can’t wait to see them. That’s just how phenomenal the line-up is. So here I go again just ecstatic that the iconic Southern California metal band Sangre will making the trip to showcase their explosive and high energy show.

Sangre or “Blood” in Spanish has made their mark and a name for themselves in the Southern California Metal Scene for nearly 10 years by their unmatched work ethic and longevity in an ever-changing revolving door of bands and trends. SANGRE opened up The 2010 “Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival” in Southern California. The festival was shared with other top acts such as Korn, Rob Zombie, Lamb of God, Chimaira, Shadows Fall, and Hatebreed.

With killer tunes and professional attitudes Sangre has the drive & hunger to take their music to the masses and band to the top. These five guys share a passion of creating, playing and performing music together. Never afraid of working their asses off behind the scenes to achieve their goals, Sangre Breathes, Eats, Sleeps, Sweats, Lives and Bleeds Metal! There is NO slowing down this Heavy Metal Juggernaut.

Oceans of Blood Metalfest Performer: Khyral

Get ready to witness the bruising metal sounds of Khyral who will be performing at the Oceans of Blood Metalfest this Saturday in Half Moon Bay! I had the pleasure to catch up with the gang!!

Alli- Hey fellas thanks for your time! Let’s get things rolling. First off tells us who makes up Khyral and how long has the current lineup been together?

Khyral- Khyral consists of Matt Wright on vocals, JJ Arechiga and Tom Waggerman on guitars, Victor Moreno on bass and Ryan Stephens on drums. The current lineup has been together for about 6 months. Matt joined the band about September of 2010 and JJ joined about 6 months back. Matt has been an awesome front man for us and JJ has added that extra dimension to our live shows. Both are awesome dudes, along with all the guys in the band.

Alli- Where did the name Khyral come from?

Khyral- Khyral is very “very” loosely translated to “can’t be copied.” Don’t know if it’s true but the name sounds great anyway.

Alli- So you guys took a year of separation as a band? Now that you have settled in what is on the agenda? What can your fans expect from you?

Khyral- Yes, before the break we all were having a tough time making it all work as a group, with work, family and responsibilities, it led to the much needed break. Ryan had joined another band during the break which is where he met JJ Arichiga. After a year break for Khyral, we came back with a new lead singer, Matt Wright formerly of Tenth Key and added another guitar player, JJ. Next on the agenda, we are looking at creating our 3rd full length album, which IS going to be our best composition of music and destruction yet. Our fans can expect to be blown away. Expect to mosh. Expect Khyral, a heavy metal machine ready to hit the metal scene and hit it hard.

Alli- You have a new single out? Tell us about it?

Khyral- The demo we just released has our completely new song “Make Them Believe” on it along with another fairly new song “Demonic Dreams” and a complete re-recording of our most popular song “Shut Up and Die.” The song “Make Them Believe” is a glimpse of what our fans can also expect to hear on our full length album which is still being created. We don’t have a set date for the album yet but we just want it to be something we can all be proud of and something that people can definitely mosh to while also being able to enjoy the musical intricateness of it all.

Alli- What bands have influenced your music and style?

Khyral- Bands who have influenced us are: Lamb of God, Cryptopsy, Tool, Gojira, Job For A Cowboy, Pantera, Mastodon, Metallica, a lot of 90’s rock and metal and a lot more modern bands rock and metal based.

Alli- The Oceans of Blood Metalfest is gearing up to be a really epic show. What three words best describe your live shows? What can the crowd expect?

Khyral- Heavy, tight and energetic. The crowd can expect moshing, or the desire to mosh, complete destruction and a damn good time.

Alli- Guys thanks so much for your time!! I’m excited to catch you at OOB! Any shoutouts and where can fans find you online?

Khyral- Thank you for YOUR time as well, it’s awesome what you guys are doing and we’re all looking forward to performing at The Old Princeton Landing, September 3rd. Fans, or people who hate us and would like to let us know, you can find us on Facebook, Youtube, Reverbnation, Twitter, and Myspace. We’ve got plenty of live footage on Youtube, along with actual music videos. All videos and music are pretty much all self-recorded and edited.  We’ll see you all in the pit!
