Joey Voodoo Collabs with the Surf Spot Music Venue

I recently got to interview my boss and the man behind Joey VoodooJoey Ganoza. I sat down with Joey to discuss a new project he’s been working on that’s getting a lot attention food an music industry. The Surf Spot serves up mouth watering delicious cuisine daily but this gem of a restaurant has a hidden treasure that is creating a buzz in the Bay Area music scene…it’s outdoor music venue.

Radio Noise: Welcome Joey..LOL…this feels real odd, how does it feel to be on the other side of the fence?

Joey: LOL..yeah man it’s really weird. So take it easy on me!

Radio: So you’ve been really busy the last three months, besides working at Joey Voodoo, you’ve been involved in a new project, The Surf Spot. Tell us about this?

Joey: Yes and I’ve missed you guys. I see things don’t get done either when I’m not around :) . The Surf Spot is a new restaurant and music venue in Pacifica, CA. I was approached by one of the owners, Tait Cowan, to help with the music venue. I’ve pretty much been there since the build out. So, I do a little bit of everything i.e. booking bands, marketing, social media, tons and tons of networking, and whatever the venue throws at me.

Radio: Tell us about the music venue? I keep hearing great things about it. What makes it different from other venues in the area? [Read more...]

Voodoo Doll of the Month: Jenna Elaine

What’s not to love about Jenna Elaine? An amazing personality, a love for metal music and a member of the Ladies of Metal. She has a passion for tattoos, oh and on top of all that she’s a total knockout. We are proud to present and welcome to the Voodoo Family…Ms. Jenna Elaine the Voodoo Doll of the Month!

Joey: Hey Jenna! I’m really excited to feature you on the site as a Voodoo Doll! Tell the folks where you’re from and how and when you got into modeling?

Jenna: Hey all :) ! I’m from Albuquerque, NM and I started modeling as a kid doing catalog work for varies kids clothing lines. Once I hit my teen-aged years I gave it all up to be your typical rebellious teen. I started back up in my early 20′s once I got sight of all the beautiful alternative models out there and decided that is something I could do and could do it well. I’ve been building my name in the alternative scene ever since.

Joey: What are your favorite types of shoots? [Read more...]

Joey Voodoo and Adeline Records

Joey Voodoo and the Voodoo Sk8 Crew is very excited to announce that we have agreed to endorse the new Adeline Records apparel line. We are extremely honored to support and endorse Adeline Records, all their amazing bands, and their new clothing line. Their music, brand, and culture is exactly what the whole Voodoo Lifestyle is all about. Keep an eye out for a new Voodoo Sk8 Crew video with Voodoo and Adeline apparel being repped!!

Adeline Records is a record label which was formed in Oakland, California in late 1997. It is co-owned by Billie Joe Armstrong, lead singer of Green Day, his wife Adrienne Armstrong, and Jim Thiebaud, professional skateboarder. Armstrong’s close friend and bandmate, Jason White currently oversees the day-to-day operation of the label, and Green Day’s manager, Pat Magnarella, has recently agreed to deal with Adeline’s record label. Adeline Records was named after a street (Adeline Street) that runs through Berkeley and North Oakland, California. The company has since relocated to the sunny San Diego area and has expanded to include a clothing line, Adeline Apparel.

50 Greatest Streetwear Brands by Bobby Hundreds

Bobby Hundreds from one of my favorite streetwear brands, The Hundreds, was asked by Complex to come up with the 50 greatest streetwear brands of all time. Man what a difficult task to jump into. Check out the 50 brands that made Bobby’s list. It’s a very impressive list indeed which has a lot of history behind it as well as new faces in the game, but I am very disappointed and surprised, shit I’m actually fucking shocked not to see an all-time favorite brand of mine Rebel8 on the list.

The gang here at  Joey Voodoo look up to and are inspired by San Francisco brands Rebel8 and Benny Gold. We are working very hard behind the scenes in our designs and continue to build our relationships and to show the folks that we are real and genuine in our drive to promote emerging music and art, all while encompassed in our tattoo and skate culture and attitude that we can not be swayed by society and need to question authority and break down cultural barriers. Perhaps one day we will make a list like this but for now we continue in being inspired and driven by amazing design and creativity. These are the pioneers that are paving the way for brands like us to keep believing in our message and dreams.
