Captivating, impassioned, authentic are just a few adjectives that have been used to describe Straight Line Stitch, the Joey Voodoo Music Artist of the Week. Vocalist Alexis Brown leads the charge with her melodic voice and passionate commanding screams. Through the years SLS has found their identity as musicians, one that is true to their rock and metal roots, and with that have continuosly built a legion of fans. I had the pleasure to quickly catch up with Alexis during their tour stop in San Francisco.
Joey: Hey Alexis! Thanks for hanging out…totally stoked. So I’ve caught you while on tour. How’s the tour been treating you so far?
SLS: Tour has been going really good, we’re all a little exhausted but things have been good.
Joey: Any crazy stories or incidents?
SLS: I don’t have any real crazy stories besides our tech Pacey drawing a bunch of crazy stuff on our guitarist’s Kris face when he was drunk…That’s was pretty funny but you had to be there.
Joey: You guys are from Tennessee…what’s it like to come out to California and play your music for your fans.
SLS: It’s a very awesome and humbling feeling to just get out of our home town & play our music in different areas period. I love California it’s a rad place, I used to live in the Monterey & the LA area when I was younger so it’s definitely humbling to come back.
Joey: What can fans expect from your shows?
SLS: Energy & I hope a good time, thats the goal.
Joey: As the lead singer of a metal/rock band who are your musical influences?
SLS: Stevie Nicks, Brock Liddow, Daryl Plumbo, & Sade.
Joey: Besides the tour is there anything else that your fans can expect this year?
SLS: The fans can expect that we are working on new material for an album they we hope to be recording by the end of the year.
